At that time Retzin king of Syria recovered Elat to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elat; and the Syrians came to Elat, and lived there, to this day.


The Pelishtim also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the South of Yehudah, and had taken Beit-Shemesh, and Ayalon, and Kederot, and Sokho with the towns of it, and Timnah with the towns of it, Gimzo also and the towns of it: and they lived there.


For they have devoured Ya`akov, and destroyed his homeland.


They will only bow down under the prisoners, and will fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


They will fly down on the shoulders of the Pelishtim on the west. Together they will plunder the children of the east. They will extend their power over Edom and Mo'av, and the children of `Ammon will obey them.


Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they don't look to the Holy One of Yisra'el, and they don't seek the LORD!


Therefore the LORD's anger burns against his people, and he has stretched out his hand against them, and has struck them. The mountains tremble, and their dead bodies are as refuse in the midst of the streets. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is still stretched out.


Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evil-doer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


Menasheh, Efrayim; and Efrayim, Menasheh; and they together shall be against Yehudah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


Pour out your wrath on the nations that don't know you, and on the families that don't call on your name: for they have devoured Ya`akov, yes, they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.

For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and wail; for the fierce anger of the LORD hasn't turned back from us.


See therefore, I have stretched out my hand over you, and have diminished your ordinary [food], and delivered you to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Pelishtim, who are ashamed of your lewd way.


I will stretch out my hand on them, and make the land desolate and waste, from the wilderness toward Diblah, throughout all their habitations: and they shall know that I am the LORD.


The pride of Yisra'el testifies to his face; yet they haven't returned to the LORD their God, nor sought him, for all this.


*I sent plagues among you like I did Egypt. I have slain your young men with the sword, and have carried away your horses; and I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camp, yet you haven't returned to me,* says the LORD.


*I have overthrown some of you, as when God overthrew Sedom and `Amorah, and you were like a burning stick plucked out of the fire; yet you haven't returned to me,* says the LORD.


*I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in every town; yet you haven't returned to me,* says the LORD.


So two or three cities staggered to one city to drink water, and were not satisfied: yet you haven't returned to me,* says the LORD.


*I struck you with blight and mildew many times in your gardens and your vineyards; and your fig trees and your olive trees have the swarming arbeh devoured: yet you haven't returned to me,* says the LORD.


those who have turned back from following the LORD, and those who haven't sought the LORD nor inquired after him.


She didn't obey the voice. She didn't receive correction. She didn't trust in the LORD. She didn't draw near to her God.


Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come on them; so that they will say in that day, Haven't these evils come on us because our God is not among us?
