You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels: let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save you from the things that shall come on you.


But they say, It is in vain; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will do everyone after the stubbornness of his evil heart.


Withhold your foot from being unshod, and your throat from thirst: but you said, It is in vain; no, for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.


Why go you about so much to change your way? you shall be ashamed of Egypt also, as you were ashamed of Ashur.


Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; yet you have a prostitute's forehead, you refused to be ashamed.


O LORD, don't your eyes look on truth? you have stricken them, but they were not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.


They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.


She has wearied [herself] with toil; yet her great rust doesn't go forth out of her; her rust doesn't [go forth] by fire.


Behold, isn't it of the LORD of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?


I was alive apart from the law once, but when the mitzvah came, sin revived, and I died.
