One told David, saying, Achitofel is among the conspirators with Avshalom. David said, LORD, please turn the counsel of Achitofel into foolishness.


The counsel of Achitofel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Achitofel both with David and with Avshalom.


When Achitofel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, and arose, and got him home, to his city, and set his house in order, and hanged himself; and he died, and was buried in the tomb of his father.


So the king died, and was brought to Shomron; and they buried the king in Shomron.


All the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramot Gil`ad, and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.


The battle increased that day: however the king of Yisra'el stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even; and about the time of the going down of the sun he died.


The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.


The magicians couldn't stand before Moshe because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians, and on all the Egyptians.


The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst. I will destroy its counsel. They will seek the idols, the charmers, those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards.


therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the understanding of their prudent men will be hidden.*


Of Edom. Thus says the LORD of Armies: Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?


A sword is on the boasters, and they shall become fools; a sword is on her mighty men, and they shall be dismayed.


I will make drunk her princes and her wise men, her governors and her deputies, and her mighty men; and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake up, says the King, whose name is the LORD of Armies.


In every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.


Then came in the magicians, the enchanters, the Kasdim, and the soothsayers; and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known to me the interpretation of it.


The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Yisra'el will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.


The seers shall be disappointed, and the diviners confounded. Yes, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer from God.*


For the terafim have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie; and they have told false dreams. They comfort in vain. Therefore they go their way like sheep. They are oppressed, because there is no shepherd.


Surely there is no enchantment with Ya`akov; Neither is there any divination with Yisra'el. Now it shall be said of Ya`akov and of Yisra'el, What has God done!
