There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.


The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.


Behold, you have made my days handbreadths. My lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely every man stands as a breath.* Selah.


I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.


Their bows will dash the young men in pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb. Their eyes will not spare children.


Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evil-doer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


Mo'av is laid waste, and they are gone up into his cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, says the King, whose name is the LORD of Armies.


Therefore I am full of the wrath of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: pour it out on the children in the street, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him who is full of days.
