Ach'av said to Eliyahu, Have you found me, my enemy? He answered, I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD.


and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in shalom.


Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in the prison; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.


It happened, as he talked with him, that [the king] said to him, Have we made you of the king's counsel? Stop! Why should you be struck down? Then the prophet stopped, and said, I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.


Will he make many petitions to you, or will he speak soft words to you?


*Because you have said, 'We have made a covenant with death, and with She'ol are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, it won't come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood.'*


For the LORD has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, the prophets; and he has covered your heads, the seers.


Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!


Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the men of `Anatot, who seek your life, saying, You shall not prophesy in the name of the LORD, that you not die by our hand;


They say continually to those who despise me, the LORD has said, You shall have shalom; and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil shall come on you.


Then spoke the Kohanim and the prophets to the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy of death; for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.


Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Yirmeyahu of `Anatot, who makes himself a prophet to you,


Concerning Yehoiakim king of Yehudah you shall say, Thus says the LORD: You have burned this scroll, saying, Why have you written therein, saying, The king of Bavel shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from there man and animal?


Then the princes said to the king, Let this man, we pray you, be put to death; because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them: for this man doesn't seek the welfare of this people, but the hurt.


the prophets prophesy falsely, and the Kohanim bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end of it?


*But you gave the Nazirim wine to drink, and commanded the prophets, saying, 'Don't prophesy!'


but don't prophesy again any more at Beit-El; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house!*


If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies: *I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;* he would be the prophet of this people.


*Don't prophesy!* They prophesy. *Don't prophesy about these things. Disgrace won't overtake us.*


The world can't hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.


But because I tell the truth, you don't believe me.


But so that this spreads no further among the people, let's threaten them, that from now on they don't speak to anyone in this name.*


saying, *Didn't we strictly charge you not to teach in this name? Behold, you have filled Yerushalayim with your teaching, and intend to bring this man's blood on us.*


For those who are such don't serve our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah, but their own belly; and by their smooth and flattering speech, they deceive the hearts of the innocent.


So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?


For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts;


and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables.


When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them, and kill them.


(In earlier times in Yisra'el, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he said, Come, and let us go to the seer; for he who is now called a Prophet was before called a Seer.)
