He went up from there to Beit-El; and as he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, Go up, you baldy; go up, you baldhead.


Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the LORD. They have despised the Holy One of Yisra'el. They are estranged and backward.


The envy also of Efrayim will depart, and those who persecute Yehudah will be cut off. Efrayim won't envy Yehudah, and Yehudah won't persecute Efrayim.


I will stir up the Egyptians against the Egyptians, and they will fight everyone against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.


For wickedness burns like a fire. It devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.


But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.


In you have they taken bribes to shed blood; you have taken interest and increase, and you have greedily gained of your neighbors by oppression, and have forgotten me, says the Lord GOD.


*'You shall rise up before the gray head, and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God. I am the LORD.


Listen to this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Shomron, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who tell their lords, *Bring, and let us drink.*

Some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to tell him, *Prophesy!* The officers struck him with the palms of their hands.


Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, *Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?*


But you have dishonored the poor man. Don't the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts?


Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.
