For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body cleaves to the earth.


For Yerushalayim is ruined, and Yehudah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.


Though hail flattens the forest, and the city is leveled completely.


and I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul, Bow down, that we may go over; and you have laid your back as the ground, and as the street, to those who go over.


Shake yourself from the dust; arise, sit [on your throne], Yerushalayim: loose yourself from the bonds of your neck, captive daughter of Tziyon.


When they tell you, *Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter:* shouldn't a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
