They said to him, Thus says Chizkiyahu, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.


It happened that night, that the angel of the LORD went forth, and struck in the camp of the Ashur one hundred eighty-five thousand: and when men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.


This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God.*


But he passed away, and behold, he was not. Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.


for the LORD will plead their case, and plunder the life of those who plunder them.


For yet a very little while, and the indignation against you will be accomplished, and my anger will be directed to his destruction.*


The watchman said, *The morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire. Come back again.*


then I will distress Ari'el, and there will be mourning and lamentation. She shall be to me as an altar hearth.

The multitude of all the nations that fight against Ari'el, even all who fight against her and her stronghold, and who distress her, will be like a dream, a vision of the night.


His breath is as an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction; and a bridle that leads to ruin will be in the jaws of the peoples.


Woe to you who destroy, but you weren't destroyed; and who betray, but nobody betrayed you! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed; and when you have made an end of betrayal, you will be betrayed.


Your heart will meditate on the terror. Where is he who counted? Where is he who weighed? Where is he who counted the towers?


He has cast the lot for them, and his hand has divided it to them with a measuring line. They shall possess it forever. From generation to generation they will dwell in it.


You will seek them, and won't find them, even those who contend with you. Those who war against you will be as nothing, as a non-existant thing.


This is your lot, the portion measured to you from me, says the LORD; because you have forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.


Yisra'el [was] holiness to the LORD, the first fruits of his increase: all who devour him shall be held guilty; evil shall come on them, says the LORD.


But I have made Esav bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is destroyed, and his brothers, and his neighbors; and he is no more.


so that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall make fires of the weapons; and they shall plunder those who plundered them, and rob those who robbed them, says the Lord GOD.


The LORD will inherit Yehudah as his portion in the holy land, and will again choose Yerushalayim.


So let all your enemies perish, LORD, but let those who love him be as the sun when it rises forth in its strength. The land had rest forty years.
