Again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. The third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Eliyahu, and begged him, and said to him, man of God, please let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight.


In the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD, this same king Achaz.


neither have our kings, our princes, our Kohanim, nor our fathers, kept your law, nor listened to your mitzvot and your testimonies with which you did testify against them.


Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes, and follows after rewards. They don't judge the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.


Return to him from whom you have deeply revolted, children of Yisra'el.


The inhabitant won't say, *I am sick.* The people who dwell therein will be forgiven their iniquity.


Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them, neither have they sought the LORD of Armies.


Menasheh, Efrayim; and Efrayim, Menasheh; and they together shall be against Yehudah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.


Can the Kushite change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.


The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?


In vain have I struck your children; they received no correction: your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.


Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Patros, answered Yirmeyahu, saying,


O LORD, don't your eyes look on truth? you have stricken them, but they were not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.


the prophets prophesy falsely, and the Kohanim bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end of it?


I will get me to the great men, and will speak to them; for they know the way of the LORD, and the law of their God. But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.


They bend their tongue, [as it were] their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don't know me, says the LORD.


For this our heart is faint; For these things our eyes are dim;


In your filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed you and you weren't cleansed, you shall not be cleansed from your filthiness any more, until I have caused my wrath toward you to rest.


I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but the fat and the strong I will destroy; I will feed them in justice.


You haven't strengthened the diseased, neither have you healed that which was sick, neither have you bound up that which was broken, neither have you brought back that which was driven away, neither have you sought that which was lost; but with force and with rigor have you ruled over them.
