Moshe said, *We will go with our young and with our old; with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast to the LORD.*


Then will they call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;


The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.


The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!


I opened to my beloved; but my beloved left; and had gone away. My heart went out when he spoke. I looked for him, but I didn't find him. I called him, but he didn't answer.


He who kills an ox is as he who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, as he who breaks a dog's neck; he who offers an offering, [as he who offers] pig's blood; he who burns frankincense, as he who blesses an idol. Yes, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations:


Therefore thus says the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil on them, which they shall not be able to escape; and they shall cry to me, but I will not listen to them.


Therefore don't you pray for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry to me because of their trouble.


When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and meal offering, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.


Don't you trust in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, are these.


You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.


Therefore will I also deal in wrath; my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.


He said to me, Son of man, see you what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Yisra'el do commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but you shall again see yet other great abominations.


As for the sacrifices of my offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; But the LORD doesn't accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt.


They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek the word of the LORD, and will not find it.


Then they will cry to the LORD, but he will not answer them. Yes, he will hide his face from them at that time, because they made their deeds evil.*


*Oh that there were one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on my altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you,* says the LORD of Armies, *neither will I accept an offering at your hand.


But he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.


You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come.*
