It happened, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Yarov`am the son of Nevat, that he took as wife Izevel the daughter of Etba`al king of the Tzidonim, and went and served Ba`al, and worshiped him.


Then they believed his words. They sang his praise.


Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of `Akhor a place for herds to lie down in, for my people who have sought me.


They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.


The word of the LORD came to me, saying,


Go, and cry in the ears of Yerushalayim, saying, Thus says the LORD, I remember for you the kindness of your youth, the love of your weddings; how you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.


For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of shalom, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.


Will you not from this time cry to me, My Father, you are the guide of my youth?


For thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el: Houses and fields and vineyards shall yet again be bought in this land.


This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope.


In all your abominations and your prostitution you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, and was weltering in your blood.


Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant.


Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord GOD, and you became mine.


Thus says the Lord GOD: When I shall have gathered the house of Yisra'el from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the nations, then shall they dwell in their own land which I gave to my servant Ya`akov.


They shall dwell securely therein; yes, they shall build houses, and plant vineyards, and shall dwell securely, when I have executed judgments on all those who do them despite round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.


*When Yisra'el was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.


By a prophet the LORD brought Yisra'el up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.


*But I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.


*Yet I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt; and you shall acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior.


I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees, about which she has said, 'These are my wages that my lovers have given me; and I will make them a forest,' and the animals of the field shall eat them.


I will bring my people Yisra'el back from captivity, and they will rebuild the ruined cities, and inhabit them; and they will plant vineyards, and drink wine from them. They shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.


Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope! Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.


Then sang Yisra'el this song: *Spring up, well; sing to it:


I am the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture.


When they had arrived, and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.


They raised over him a great heap of stones, to this day; and the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Therefore the name of that place was called *The valley of `Akhor* to this day.


The children of Yisra'el didn't remember the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hand of all their enemies on every side;
