It happened, while Yisra'el lived in that land, that Re'uven went and lay with Bilhah, his father's concubine, and Yisra'el heard of it. Now the sons of Ya`akov were twelve.


These are the names of the children of Yisra'el, who came into Egypt, Ya`akov and his sons: Re'uven, Ya`akov's firstborn.


The sons of Re'uven the firstborn of Yisra'el (for he was the firstborn; but, because he defiled his father's couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Yosef the son of Yisra'el; and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.


It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one has his father's wife.


Cursed be he who lies with his father's wife, because he has uncovered his father's skirt. All the people shall say, Amein.


Let Re'uven live, and not die; Nor let his men be few.


*Neither shall you covet your neighbor's wife; neither shall you desire your neighbor's house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.*
