Avram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Charan, and they went forth to go into the land of Kena`an. Into the land of Kena`an they came.


I will also judge that nation, whom they will serve. Afterward they will come out with great wealth,


In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amori is not yet full.*


Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For to you, and to your seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Avraham your father.


Behold, I am with you, and will keep you, wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken of to you.*


Ya`akov lived in the land of his father's travels, in the land of Kena`an.


I will go down with you into Egypt. I will also surely bring you up again. Yosef will close your eyes.*


The time drew near that Yisra'el must die, and he called his son Yosef, and said to him, *If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please don't bury me in Egypt,


Yosef said to his brothers, *I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov.*


Par`oh said, *Go up, and bury your father, just like he made you swear.*


The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock. Exalted be the God of my salvation,


*Now you are releasing your servant, Master, according to your word, in peace;
