To Yosef in the land of Egypt were born Menasheh and Efrayim, whom Asenat, the daughter of Potiphera, Kohen of On, bore to him.


Someone told Ya`akov, and said, *Behold, your son Yosef comes to you,* and Yisra'el strengthened himself, and sat on the bed.


Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into Egypt, are mine; Efrayim and Menasheh, even as Re'uven and Shim`on, will be mine.


Yosef saw Efrayim's children to the third generation. The children also of Makhir, the son of Menasheh, were born on Yosef's knees.


Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness of which he died: and Yo'ash the king of Yisra'el came down to him, and wept over him, and said, My father, my father, the chariots of Yisra'el and the horsemen of it!


Elisha died, and they buried him. Now the bands of the Mo`avim invaded the land at the coming in of the year.


After this Iyov lived one hundred forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, to four generations.


Yes, may you see your children's children. Shalom be upon Yisra'el.


The sisters therefore sent to him, saying, *Lord, behold, he for whom you have great affection is sick.*


By faith, Ya`akov, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Yosef, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.


For the children of Yosef were two tribes, Menasheh and Efrayim: and they gave no portion to the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with the suburbs of it for their livestock and for their substance.
