Malki-Tzedek king of Shalem brought out bread and wine: and he was Kohen of El `Elyon.


Par`oh called Yosef's name Zaphenath-Paneah; and he gave him Asenat, the daughter of Potiphera Kohen of On as a wife. Yosef went out over the land of Egypt.


To Yosef were born two sons before the year of famine came, whom Asenat, the daughter of Potiphera Kohen of On, bore to him.


As for the people, he moved them to the cities from one end of the border of Egypt even to the other end of it.


Then Yosef said to the people, *Behold, I have bought you and your land today for Par`oh. Behold, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land.


Yosef made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt to this day, that Par`oh should have the fifth. Only the land of the Kohanim alone didn't become Par`oh's.


and Benayah the son of Yehoiada [was over] the Kereti and the Peleti; and David's sons were chief ministers.


Also we inform you, that touching any of the Kohanim and Levites, the singers, porters, temple servants 1, or servants of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, custom, or toll, on them.


I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them; so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, were fled everyone to his field.


Take no bag for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.


Don't you know that those who serve around sacred things eat from the things of the temple, and those who wait on the altar have their portion with the altar?


But let him who is taught in the word share all good things with him who teaches.


Take heed to yourself that you don't forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land.


For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: *If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.*


Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.
