Now Yisra'el loved Yosef more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age, and he made him a coat of many colors.


They took Yosef's coat, and killed a male goat, and dipped the coat in the blood.


He recognized it, and said, *It is my son's coat. An evil animal has devoured him. Yosef is without doubt torn in pieces.*


When she was brought forth, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, *By the man, whose these are, I am with child.* She also said, *Please discern whose are these--the signet, and the cords, and the staff.*


But when this, your son, came, who has devoured your living with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.'
