He left from there to the mountain on the east of Beit-El, and pitched his tent, having Beit-El on the west, and `Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD.


God came to Lavan, the Syrian, in a dream of the night, and said to him, *Take heed to yourself that you don't speak to Ya`akov either good or bad.*


Lavan said to Ya`akov, *What have you done, that you have deceived me, and carried away my daughters like captives of the sword?


Ya`akov came in shalom to the city of Shekhem, which is in the land of Kena`an, when he came from Paddan-Aram 1; and encamped before the city.


By faith, he lived as an alien in the land of promise, as in a land not his own, dwelling in tents, with Yitzchak and Ya`akov, the heirs with him of the same promise.
