He did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father `Uzziyah had done: however he didn't enter into the temple of the LORD. The people did yet corruptly.


But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.


The LORD said to him, *Go down and you shall bring Aharon up with you, but don't let the Kohanim and the people break through to come up to the LORD, lest he break forth on them.*


When the people saw that Moshe delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aharon, and said to him, *Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moshe, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.*


Moshe begged the LORD his God, and said, *The LORD, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, that you have brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?


He received what they handed him, and fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it a molten calf; and they said, *These are your gods, Yisra'el, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.*


The LORD spoke to Moshe, *Depart, go up from here, you and the people that you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov, saying, 'I will give it to your seed.'


Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the LORD. They have despised the Holy One of Yisra'el. They are estranged and backward.


Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to finish disobedience, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.


They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gevah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish them for their sins.


For I know that after my death you will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will happen to you in the latter days; because you will do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.


They have dealt corruptly with him, [they are] not his children, [it is] their blemish. [They are] a perverse and crooked generation.


Lest you corrupt yourselves, and make yourself an engraved image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,


The LORD said to me, Arise, get you down quickly from hence; for your people whom you have brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.


Also in Chorev you provoked the LORD to wrath, and the LORD was angry with you to destroy you.


But it happened, when the judge was dead, that they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them; they didn't cease from their doings, nor from their stubborn way.
