Why have you despised the word of the LORD, to do that which is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriyah the Chittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of `Ammon.


It may be that the LORD will look on the wrong done to me, and that the LORD will requite me good for [his] cursing of me this day.


For he tore Yisra'el from the house of David; and they made Yarov`am the son of Nevat king: and Yarov`am drove Yisra'el from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.


Moshe and Aharon were among his Kohanim, Shemu'el among those who call on his name; they called on the LORD, and he answered them.


Moshe said, *Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, yes, every man against his son, and against his brother; that he may bestow on you a blessing this day.*


Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that the LORD, the God Tzeva'ot, will be gracious to the remnant of Yosef.*


Who knows whether God will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?*


Aharon took as Moshe spoke, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on the incense, and made atonement for the people.


and it shall be to him, and to his seed after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was jealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Yisra'el.


I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, *Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight.

Isn't it wheat harvest today? I will call to the LORD, that he may send thunder and rain; and you shall know and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.


All the people said to Shemu'el, Pray for your servants to the LORD your God, that we not die; for we have added to all our sins [this] evil, to ask us a king.


Shemu'el said to the people, *Don't be afraid; you have indeed done all this evil; yet don't turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart:


Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will instruct you in the good and the right way.


The sin of the young men was very great before the LORD; for the men despised the offering of the LORD.
