He said to Avram, *Know for sure that your seed will live as foreigners in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them. They will afflict them four hundred years.


The angel of the LORD said to her, *Behold, you are with child, and will bear a son. You shall call his name Yishma'el, because the LORD has heard your affliction.


I will establish my covenant between me and you and your seed after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your seed after you.


seeing that Avraham has surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed in him?


and said, *I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,


The LORD appeared to him, and said, *Don't go down into Egypt. Live in the land I will tell you about.


The LORD appeared to him the same night, and said, *I am the God of Avraham your father. Don't be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your seed for my servant Avraham's sake.*


Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For to you, and to your seed, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Avraham your father.


He said, *Your name will no longer be called Ya`akov, but Yisra'el; for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed.*


God said to him, *I am El Shaddai. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your body.


The land which I gave to Avraham and Yitzchak, I will give it to you, and to your seed after you will I give the land.*


God remembered Noach, all the animals, and all the livestock that were with him in the teivah; and God made a wind to pass over the earth. The waters subsided.


But the LORD was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and had respect to them, because of his covenant with Avraham, Yitzchak, and Ya`akov, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.


Don't hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call.


to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death;


For he remembered his holy word, and Avraham, his servant.


He remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.


In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul.


For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried to him, he heard.


They cried to you, and were delivered. They trusted in you, and were not disappointed.


Let the sighing of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are sentenced to death.


Moreover I have heard the groaning of the children of Yisra'el, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage, and I have remembered my covenant.


and when we cried to the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and brought us forth out of Egypt: and behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of your border.


I have surely seen the affliction of my people that is in Egypt, and have heard their groaning. I have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you into Egypt.'


When the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it grieved the LORD because of their groaning by reason of those who oppressed them and vexed them.


Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Binyamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my people Yisra'el; and he shall save my people out of the hand of the Pelishtim: for I have looked on my people, because their cry is come to me.
