Yehoshua defeated `Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.


Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God: men of truth, hating unjust gain; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.


Moshe rose up with Yehoshua, his servant, and Moshe went up onto God's Mountain.


The LORD spoke to Moshe face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. He turned again into the camp, but his servant Yehoshua, the son of Nun, a young man, didn't depart out of the Tent.


You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.*


The LORD said to him, *What is that in your hand?* He said, *A rod.*


Moshe took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moshe took God's rod in his hand.


Yehoshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moshe, one of his chosen men, answered, My lord Moshe, forbid them.


These are the names of the men who Moshe sent to spy out the land. Moshe called Hoshea the son of Nun Yehoshua.


Of the tribe of Efrayim, Hoshea the son of Nun.


The LORD said to Moshe, Take Yehoshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;


which also our fathers, in their turn, brought in with Yehoshua when they entered into the possession of the nations, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, to the days of David,


Moshe came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Yehoshua the son of Nun.


For if Yehoshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.


The LORD said to Yehoshua, Stretch out the javelin that is in your hand toward `Ai; for I will give it into your hand. Yehoshua stretched out the javelin that was in his hand toward the city.


So Yehoshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up to `Ai: and Yehoshua chose out thirty thousand men, the mighty men of valor, and sent them forth by night.
