It happened after the death of Sha'ul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the `Amaleki, and David had abode two days in Tziklag;


of Syria, and of Mo'av, and of the children of `Ammon, and of the Pelishtim, and of `Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadad`ezer, son of Rechov, king of Tzovah.


Some of them, even of the sons of Shim`on, five hundred men, went to Mount Se`ir, having for their captains Pelatyah, and Ne`aryah, and Refayah, and `Uzzi'el, the sons of Yish`i.


They struck the remnant of the `Amaleki who escaped, and have lived there to this day.


shall we again break your mitzvot, and join in affinity with the peoples that do these abominations? would not you be angry with us until you had consumed us, so that there should be no remnant, nor any to escape?


His memory shall perish from the earth. He shall have no name in the street.


*Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!


The enemy is overtaken by endless ruin. The very memory of the cities which you have overthrown has perished.


This day shall be to you for a memorial, and you shall keep it a feast to the LORD: throughout your generations you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.


It shall be for a sign to you on your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that the law of the LORD may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand the LORD has brought you out of Egypt.


Yehoshua defeated `Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.


Moshe wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Yisra'el.


The LORD said to Moshe, *Whoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.


The LORD said to Moshe, *Write you these words: for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Yisra'el.*


The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.


Thus speaks the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, saying, Write you all the words that I have spoken to you in a book.


Take a scroll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken to you against Yisra'el, and against Yehudah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Yoshiyahu, even to this day.


He looked at `Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, `Amalek was the first of the nations, But his latter end shall come to destruction.


Moshe wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the mitzvah of the LORD: and these are their journeys according to their goings out.


Moshe wrote this law, and delivered it to the Kohanim the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all the elders of Yisra'el.


then you shall tell them, Because the waters of the Yarden were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over the Yarden, the waters of the Yarden were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Yisra'el forever.


and the LORD sent you on a journey, and said, 'Go, and utterly destroy the sinners the `Amaleki, and fight against them until they are consumed.'


It happened, when David and his men were come to Tziklag on the third day, that the `Amaleki had made a raid on the South, and on Tziklag, and had struck Tziklag, and burned it with fire,


David struck them from the twilight even to the evening of the next day: and there not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men, who rode on camels and fled.
