If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;


For they didn't get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.


a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;


I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.


Speak, Thus says the LORD, The dead bodies of men shall fall as dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester; and none shall gather [them].


by your great wisdom [and] by your traffic have you increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches--


Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of your tranquillity.


The king spoke and said, Is not this great Bavel, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?


Efrayim said, *Surely I have become rich, I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won't find in me any iniquity that is sin.*


Therefore he sacrifices to his net, and burns incense to his dragnet, because by them his life is luxurious, and his food is good.


For who makes you different? And what do you have that you didn't receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?


If you shall say in your heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?


Don't speak in your heart, after that the LORD your God has thrust them out from before you, saying, For my righteousness the LORD has brought me in to possess this land; whereas for the wickedness of these nations the LORD does drive them out from before you.


The LORD said to Gid`on, The people who are with you are too many for me to give the Midyanim into their hand, lest Yisra'el vaunt themselves against me, saying, My own hand has saved me.


The LORD makes poor, and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up.


Then said David, You shall not do so, my brothers, with that which the LORD has given to us, who has preserved us, and delivered the troop that came against us into our hand.
