A man of God came near and spoke to the king of Yisra'el, and said, Thus says the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, the LORD is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys; therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the LORD.


LORD, don't grant the desires of the wicked. Don't let their evil plans succeed, or they will become proud. Selah.


As for the head of those who surround me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.


Why should the Egyptians speak, saying, 'He brought them forth for evil, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the surface of the earth?' Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people.


*Thus shall you speak to Chizkiyahu king of Yehudah, saying, 'Don't let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, *Yerushalayim won't be given into the hand of the king of Ashur.*


'For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.'*


You said, I shall be mistress forever; so that you did not lay these things to your heart, neither did remember the latter end of it.

Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of your tranquillity.


But the soul who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native-born or a foreigner, the same blasphemes the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.


lest the land whence you brought us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised to them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.


For the Kena`anim and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will compass us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what will you do for your great name?


For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you a people to himself.
