They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, and don't hesitate to spit in my face.


at that time the LORD spoke by Yeshaiyahu the son of Amotz, saying, *Go, and loosen the sackcloth from off your waist, and take your shoes from off your feet.* He did so, walking naked and barefoot.


I gave my back to the strikers, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair; I didn't hide my face from shame and spitting.


The LORD said to Moshe, If her father had but spit in her face, shouldn't she be ashamed seven days? let her be shut up outside of the camp seven days, and after that she shall be brought in again.


Then they spit in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him,


They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.


He preached, saying, *After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.


They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.*


He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I'm not worthy to loosen.*


His name shall be called in Yisra'el, The house of him who has his shoe untied.


Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he stand, and say, I don't want to take her;


The near kinsman said, I can't redeem it for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance: take my right of redemption on you; for I can't redeem it.


Therefore the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, says, I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me forever: but now the LORD says, Be it far from me; for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
