Chiram king of Tzor sent his servants to Shlomo; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Chiram was ever a lover of David.


He answered, You shall not strike them: would you strike those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.


I am for shalom, but when I speak, they are for war.


But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, 'We don't want this man to reign over us.'


When you draw near to a city to fight against it, then proclaim shalom to it.


If it will make no shalom with you, but will make war against you, then you shall besiege it:


They didn't drive out the Kena`anim who lived in Gezer: but the Kena`anim dwell in the midst of Efrayim to this day, and are become servants to do forced labor.


That day Yehoshua made those wood cutters and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the LORD, to this day, in the place which he should choose.
