*When you have come into the land of Kena`an, which I give to you for a possession, and I put a spreading mildew in a house in the land of your possession,


and you shall take possession of the land, and dwell therein; for to you have I given the land to possess it.


For you are to pass over the Yarden to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God gives you, and you shall possess it, and dwell therein.


When you are come into the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.


It shall be, when you are come in to the land which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance, and possess it, and dwell therein,


and he has brought us into this place, and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.


When the LORD your God shall bring you into the land where you go to possess it, and shall cast out many nations before you, the Chittite, and the Girgashi, and the Amori, and the Kena`ani, and the Perizzi, and the Chivvi, and the Yevusi, seven nations greater and mightier than you;


Remember the word which Moshe the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, the LORD your God gives you rest, and will give you this land.


So the LORD gave to Yisra'el all the land which he swore to give to their fathers; and they possessed it, and lived therein.


but you have this day rejected your God, who himself saves you out of all your calamities and your distresses; and you have said to him, [No], but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.


Then Shemu'el told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. Shemu'el sent all the people away, every man to his house.

Call Yishai to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do: and you shall anoint to me him whom I name to you.


He said, This will be the manner of the king who shall reign over you: he will take your sons, and appoint them to him, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and they shall run before his chariots;
