The burden of Damascus: *Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.


For you have made a city into a heap, a fortified city into a ruin, a palace of strangers to be no city. It will never be built.


Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of `Ammon; and it shall become a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Yisra'el possess those who did possess him, says the LORD.


I will make you a bare rock; you shall be a place for the spreading of nets; you shall be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, says the Lord GOD.


Therefore I will make Shomron like a rubble heap of the field, like places for planting vineyards; and I will pour down its stones into the valley, and I will uncover its foundations.

So Yehoshua burnt `Ai, and made it a heap forever, even a desolation, to this day.
