They said, *Come, let's build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let's make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth.*


Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed. Trembling takes hold of the mighty men of Mo'av. All the inhabitants of Kena`an are melted away.


Therefore all hands will be feeble, and everyone's heart will melt.


It shall be, when they tell you, Why do you sigh? that you shall say, Because of the news, for it comes; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord GOD.


Then I said to you, Don't dread, neither be afraid of them.


(The Emim lived therein before, a people great, and many, and tall, as the `Anakim:


Only the trees of which you know that they are not trees for food, you shall destroy and cut them down; and you shall build bulwarks against the city that makes war with you, until it fall.


The officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say, What man is there who is fearful and faint-hearted? let him go and return to his house, lest his brother's heart melt as his heart.


If you shall say in your heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?


There was none of the `Anakim left in the land of the children of Yisra'el: only in `Aza, in Gat, and in Ashdod, did some remain.


Nevertheless my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed the LORD my God.


Kalev drove out there the three sons of `Anak: Sheshai, and Achiman, and Talmai, the children of `Anak.


As soon as we had heard it, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.
