The LORD brought him outside, and said, *Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.* He said to Avram, *So shall your seed be.*


that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your seed greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies.


I will multiply your seed as the stars of the sky, and will give to your seed all these lands. In your seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed,


even by the God of your father, who will help you; by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.


Yo'av said to the king, Now the LORD your God add to the people, however many they may be, one hundred times; and may the eyes of my lord the king see it: but why does my lord the king delight in this thing?


Yo'av said, the LORD make his people a hundred times as many as they are: but, my lord the king, aren't they all my lord's servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Yisra'el?


May the LORD increase you more and more, you and your children.


Remember Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yisra'el, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, 'I will multiply your seed as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.'*


I caused you to multiply as that which grows in the field, and you increased and grew great, and you attained to excellent ornament; your breasts were fashioned, and your hair was grown; yet you were naked and bare.


God said to Bil`am, You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people; for they are blessed.


*So they shall put my name on the children of Yisra'el; and I will bless them.*


The LORD your God has multiplied you, and behold, you are this day as the stars of the sky for multitude.


How can I myself alone bear your encumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?


Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov, to give to them and to their seed after them.


Your fathers went down into Egypt with seventy persons; and now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of the sky for multitude.


You shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of the sky for multitude; because you didn't listen to the voice of the LORD your God.
