The sons of Shem: `Elam, Ashur, Arpakhshad, Lud, and Aram.


It happened in the days of Amrafel, king of Shin`ar, Aryokh, king of Ellasar, Kedorla`omer, king of `Elam, and Tid`al, king of Goyim,


The words of Nechemyah the son of Chakhalyah. Now it happened in the month Kislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,


that in those days, when the King Achashverosh sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace,


So it happened, when the king's mitzvah and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together to the citadel of Susa, to the custody of Hegai, that Ester was taken into the king's house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.


The couriers went forth in haste by the king's mitzvah, and the decree was given out in the citadel of Susa. The king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Shushan was perplexed.


Ester said, *An adversary and an enemy, even this wicked Haman!* Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.


Mordekhai went out of the presence of the king in royal clothing of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a robe of fine linen and purple; and the city of Susa shouted and was glad.


On that day, the number of those who were slain in the citadel of Susa was brought before the king.


The Jews who were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and killed three hundred men in Shushan; but they didn't lay their hand on the spoil.


It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Ashur, from Egypt, from Patros, from Kush, from `Elam, from Shin`ar, from Chamat, and from the islands of the sea.


A grievous vision is declared to me. The treacherous man deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, `Elam; attack! I have stopped all of Madai's sighing.


and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of `Elam, and all the kings of the Madai;


Now it happened in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], in the fifth [day] of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Kevar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.


There is `Elam and all her multitude round about her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who are gone down uncircumcised into the lower parts of the earth, who caused their terror in the land of the living, and have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit.


In the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Chiddekel,


As for me, Daniyel, my spirit was grieved in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.


Daniyel spoke and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the sky broke forth on the great sea.


In the third year of the reign of king Belshatzar a vision appeared to me, even to me, Daniyel, after that which appeared to me at the first.


Then I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.


He said, Hear now my words: if there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known to him in a vision, I will speak with him in a dream.


God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,


Thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of lions. Out of their mouths proceed fire, smoke, and sulfur.
