All the guests of Adoniyahu were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.


*Those who trust in engraved images, who tell molten images, 'You are our gods' will be turned back. They will be utterly disappointed.


*I am the LORD. That is my name. I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to engraved images.


But Daniyel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.


Now I, Nevukhadnetzar 1, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.


but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them; and you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which don't see, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified.


Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Yerushalayim; and the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, drank from them.


In the same hour came forth the fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the menorah on the plaster of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.


Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end.


Woe to him who says to the wood, 'Awake!' or to the mute stone, 'Arise!' Shall this teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.


Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.
