Then the king made Daniyel great, and gave him many great gifts, and made him to rule over the whole province of Bavel, and to be chief governor over all the wise men of Bavel.


Then commanded Belshatzar, and they clothed Daniyel with purple, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.


The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Kasdim, and the soothsayers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Bavel, Whoever shall read this writing, and show me the interpretation of it, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.


for I will promote you to very great honor, and whatever you say to me I will do. Please come therefore, and curse this people for me.


Balak said to Bil`am, Didn't I earnestly send to you to call you? why didn't you come to me? am I not able indeed to promote you to honor?


The elders of Mo'av and the elders of Midyan departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came to Bil`am, and spoke to him the words of Balak.


Therefore now flee you to your place: I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, the LORD has kept you back from honor.
