When the virgins were gathered together the second time, Mordekhai was sitting in the king's gate.


In those days, while Mordekhai was sitting in the king's gate, two of the king's eunuchs, Bigthan and Teresh, who were doorkeepers, were angry, and sought to lay hands on the King Achashverosh.


All the king's servants who were in the king's gate bowed down, and paid homage to Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordekhai didn't bow down or pay him homage.


When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.


that all the princes of the king of Bavel came in, and sat in the middle gate, [to wit], Nergal-Sar'etzer, Samgarnebo, Sarsekhim, Rav-Saris, Nergal-Sar'etzer, Rav-Mag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Bavel.


Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniyel had understanding in all visions and dreams.


The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniyel he gave [the name of] Belteshatzar; and to Chananyah, [of] Shadrakh; and to Misha'el, [of] Meshakh; and to `Azaryah, [of] `Aved-Nego.


Then Daniyel went to his house, and made the thing known to Chananyah, Misha'el, and `Azaryah, his companions:


Nevukhadnetzar 1 the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits, and the breadth of it six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Bavel.


and over them three presidents, of whom Daniyel was one; that these satraps might give account to them, and that the king should have no damage.


Hate evil, love good, and establish justice in the courts. It may be that the LORD, the God Tzeva'ot, will be gracious to the remnant of Yosef.*
