17 Therefore thus says the LORD: 'Your wife shall be a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line; and you yourself shall die in a land that is unclean, and Yisra'el shall surely be led away captive out of his land.'*

In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Ashur took Shomron, and carried Yisra'el away to Ashur, and placed them in Chalach, and on the Chavor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Madai.


He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Yisra'el to dwell in their tents.


Their infants also will be dashed in pieces before their eyes. Their houses will be ransacked, and their wives raped.


He will surely wind you around and around, and throw you like a ball into a large country. There you will die, and there the chariots of your glory will be, you shame of your lord's house.


The people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Yerushalayim because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them--them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness on them.


You, Pashchur, and all who dwell in your house shall go into captivity; and you shall come to Bavel, and there you shall die, and there shall you be buried, you, and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied falsely.


Then the word of the LORD came to Yirmeyahu, after that Chananyah the prophet had broken the bar from off the neck of the prophet Yirmeyahu, saying,


Therefore thus says the LORD, Behold, I will send you away from off the surface of the earth: this year you shall die, because you have spoken rebellion against the LORD.


Thus says the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el, concerning Ach'av the son of Kolayah, and concerning Tzidkiyahu the son of Ma`aseyah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel; and he shall kill them before your eyes;


Thus speaks the LORD of Armies, the God of Yisra'el, saying, Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Yerushalayim, and to Tzefanyah the son of Ma`aseyah, the Kohen, and to all the Kohanim, saying,


They ravished the women in Tziyon, The virgins in the cities of Yehudah.


The LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Yisra'el eat their bread unclean, among the nations where I will drive them.


They won't dwell in the LORD's land; but Efrayim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Ashur.


Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; and the feasting and lounging will end.


For `Amos says, 'Yarov`am will die by the sword, and Yisra'el shall surely be led away captive out of his land.'*


Thus the Lord GOD showed me: behold, a basket of summer fruit.


I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and he said, *Strike the tops of the pillars, that the thresholds may shake; and break them in pieces on the head of all of them; and I will kill the last of them with the sword: there shall not one of them flee away, and there shall not one of them escape.


Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the surface of the earth; except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Ya`akov,* says the LORD.


Shave your heads, and cut off your hair for the children of your delight. Enlarge your baldness like the rakham; for they have gone into captivity from you!


For I will gather all nations against Yerushalayim to battle; and the city will be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go out into captivity, and the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.
