The beginning of his kingdom was Bavel, Erekh, Akkad, and Kalneh, in the land of Shin`ar.


When To`i king of Chamat heard that David had struck all the army of Hadad`ezer,


So Shlomo held the feast at that time, and all Yisra'el with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Chamat to the brook of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.


The king of Ashur brought men from Bavel, and from Kutah, and from Avva, and from Chamat and Sefarvayim, and placed them in the cities of Shomron instead of the children of Yisra'el; and they possessed Shomron, and lived in the cities of it.


The men of Bavel made Sukkot-Benot, and the men of Kut made Nergal, and the men of Chamat made Ashima,


Where are the gods of Chamat, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sefarvayim, of Hena, and `Ivvah? have they delivered Shomron out of my hand?


Where is the king of Chamat, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sefarvayim, of Hena, and `Ivvah?


He went forth and warred against the Pelishtim, and broke down the wall of Gat, and the wall of Yavneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in [the country of] Ashdod, and among the Pelishtim.


Of Damascus. Chamat is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard evil news, they are melted away: there is sorrow on the sea; it can't be quiet.


Are you better than No-Amon, who was situated among the rivers, who had the waters around her; whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was of the sea?


As he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Pelishti of Gat, Golyat by name, out of the ranks of the Pelishtim, and spoke according to the same words: and David heard them.


There went out a champion out of the camp of the Pelishtim, named Golyat, of Gat, whose height was six cubits and a span.


So they sent the ark of God to `Ekron. It happened, as the ark of God came to `Ekron, that the `Ekroni cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Yisra'el to us, to kill us and our people.


They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Pelishtim to them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Yisra'el? They answered, Let the ark of the God of Yisra'el be carried about to Gat. They carried the ark of the God of Yisra'el [there].
