For resentment kills the foolish man, and jealousy kills the simple.


The life of the body is a heart at shalom, but envy rots the bones.


Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy?


Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man's neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.


For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.


But when he saw many of the Perushim and Tzedukim coming for his immersion, he said to them, *You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?


But the chief Kohanim conspired to put El'azar to death also,


The Perushim therefore said among themselves, *See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him.*


But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Sha'ul, and blasphemed.


But some of the sect of the Perushim who believed rose up, saying, *It is necessary to circumcise them, and to charge them to keep the Torah of Moshe.*


But the unpersuaded Jews took along some wicked men from the marketplace, and gathering a crowd, set the city in an uproar. Assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people.


The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Messiah.'


Anan the Kohen Gadol was there, with Kayafa, Yochanan, Alexander, and as many as were relatives of the Kohen Gadol.


Multitudes also came together from the cities around Yerushalayim, bringing sick people, and those who were tormented by unclean spirits: and they were all healed.


*The patriarchs, moved with jealousy against Yosef, sold him into Egypt. God was with him,


envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.


Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, *The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously*?
