He answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for your servant said, I will saddle me a donkey, that I may ride thereon, and go with the king; because your servant is lame.


He has slandered your servant to my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in your eyes.


Now Yonatan, Sha'ul's son, had a son who was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the news came of Sha'ul and Yonatan out of Yizre`el; and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it happened, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. His name was Mefivoshet.


So Mefivoshet lived in Yerushalayim; for he ate continually at the king's table. He was lame in both his feet.


David said to him, *Don't be afraid of him; for I will surely show you kindness for Yonatan your father's sake, and will restore you all the land of Sha'ul your father; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.*


Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful.


Only the LORD had a delight in your fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all peoples, as at this day.


Because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt;
