The watchman cried, and told the king. The king said, If he be alone, there is news in his mouth. He came apace, and drew near.


The king said to them, What seems you best I will do. The king stood beside the gate, and all the people went out by hundreds and by thousands.


Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. They told to all the people, saying, Behold, the king is sitting in the gate: and all the people came before the king. Now Yisra'el had fled every man to his tent.


When he came, behold, `Eli was sitting on his seat by the road watching; for his heart trembled for the ark of God. When the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.
