Esav hated Ya`akov because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. Esav said in his heart, *The days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then I will kill my brother Ya`akov.*


But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Yehonadav, the son of Shim`a, David's brother; and Yehonadav was a very subtle man.


Now therefore don't let my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead; for Amnon only is dead.


Behold, he travails with iniquity. Yes, he has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.


Then Yishai made Shammah to pass by. He said, Neither has the LORD chosen this.
