But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David perceived that the child was dead; and David said to his servants, Is the child dead? They said, He is dead.


Then said his servants to him, What thing is this that you have done? you did fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, you did rise and eat bread.


Yo'av sent to Tekoa, and fetched there a wise woman, and said to her, please act like a mourner, and put on mourning clothing, Please, and don't anoint yourself with oil, but be as a woman who has a long time mourned for the dead:


Mefivoshet the son of Sha'ul came down to meet the king; and he had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in shalom.


They brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and shalom offerings before the LORD.


Then David the king went in, and sat before the LORD; and he said, Who am I, Lord GOD, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?


Then Iyov arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshiped.

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.


I was mute. I didn't open my mouth, because you did it.


Oh come, let's worship and bow down. Let's kneel before the LORD, our Maker,


Don't be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.


Let your garments be always white, and don't let your head lack oil.


But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;


You didn't anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.


Wash yourself therefore, and anoint you, and put your clothing on you, and get you down to the threshing floor, but don't make yourself known to the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.


Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.


So Shemu'el turned again after Sha'ul; and Sha'ul worshiped the LORD.
