It was told David; and he gathered all Yisra'el together, and passed over the Yarden, and came to Chelam. The Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.


David took from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.


He gathered men to him, and became captain over a troop, when David killed them [of Tzovah]: and they went to Damascus, and lived therein, and reigned in Damascus.


The Syrians fled before Yisra'el; and David killed of the Syrians [the men of] seven thousand chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the army.


I will strike them through, so that they will not be able to rise. They shall fall under my feet.
