Ben-Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together; and there were thirty-two kings with him, and horses and chariots: and he went up and besieged Shomron, and fought against it.


He said to Gechazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. When he had called her, she stood before him.


Then he returned, and walked in the house once back and forth; and went up, and stretched himself on him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.


One of his servants said, No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Yisra'el, tells the king of Yisra'el the words that you speak in your bedchamber.


As the king of Yisra'el was passing by on the wall, there cried a woman to him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.


When the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.


Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, *Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak to the king about hanging Mordekhai on it. Then go in merrily with the king to the banquet.* This pleased Haman, so he had the gallows made.

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.
