They took therefore two chariots with horses; and the king sent after the army of the Syrians, saying, Go and see.


The people went out, and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was [sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.


They gave them drinks in golden vessels of various kinds, including royal wine in abundance, according to the bounty of the king.


Hasatan answered the LORD, and said, *Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.


a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;


What will you do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? Where will you leave your wealth?


In that day, men shall cast away their idols of silver, and their idols of gold, which have been made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats;


They will hang on him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, every small vessel, from the cups even to all the pitchers.


For in that day everyone shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold--sin which your own hands have made for you.


Cast away from you all your transgressions, in which you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, house of Yisra'el?


For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?


Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
