Then spoke the woman whose the living child was to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill it. But the other said, It shall be neither mine nor yours; divide it.


Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you.


As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Yerushalayim.


The hands of the pitiful women have boiled their own children; They were their food in the destruction of the daughter of my people.


*'If you in spite of this won't listen to me, but walk contrary to me;


You will eat the flesh of your sons, and you will eat the flesh of your daughters.


They shall besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land; and they shall besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which the LORD your God has given you.


You shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, whom the LORD your God has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress you.
