Ba`anah the son of Achilud, in Ta`nakh and Megiddo, and all Beit-Shean which is beside Tzaretan, beneath Yizre`el, from Beit-Shean to Avel-Mecholah, as far as beyond Yokme`am;


But Amatzyah would not hear. So Yeho'ash king of Yisra'el went up; and he and Amatzyah king of Yehudah looked one another in the face at Beit-Shemesh, which belongs to Yehudah.


Then Amatzyah sent messengers to Yeho'ash, the son of Yeho'achaz son of Yehu, king of Yisra'el, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.


Therefore, behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in shalom, neither shall your eyes see all the evil which I will bring on this place. They brought the king word again.


Now the rest of the acts of Yoshiyahu, and all that he did, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?


The king of Egypt didn't come again out of his land any more; for the king of Bavel had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Perat, all that pertained to the king of Egypt.


But when Achazyah the king of Yehudah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. Yehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot: [and they struck him] at the ascent of Gur, which is by Yivle`am. He fled to Megiddo, and died there.


There is a vanity which is done on the earth, that there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked. Again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.


Don't you weep for the dead, neither bemoan him; but weep sore for him who goes away; for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.


For thus says the LORD touching Shallum the son of Yoshiyahu, king of Yehudah, who reigned instead of Yoshiyahu his father, [and] who went forth out of this place: He shall not return there any more.


But in the place where they have led him captive, there shall he die, and he shall see this land no more.


Of Egypt: concerning the army of Par`oh-Nekho king of Egypt, which was by the river Perat in Karkemish, which Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel struck in the fourth year of Yehoiakim the son of Yoshiyahu, king of Yehudah.


Don't let the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; in the north by the river Perat have they stumbled and fallen.


Moreover, take up a lamentation for the princes of Yisra'el,


In that day there will be a great mourning in Yerushalayim, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.


Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!


Menasheh had in Yissakhar and in Asher Beit-Shean and its towns, and Yivle`am and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of `En-Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Ta`nakh and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, even the three heights.


He gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew, Megiddo.


Menasheh did not drive out [the inhabitants of] Beit-Shean and its towns, nor [of] Ta`nakh and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Yivle`am and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; but the Kena`anim would dwell in that land.


The kings came and fought, then the kings of Kena`an fought at Ta`nakh by the waters of Megiddo. They took no plunder of silver.
