15 King Achaz commanded Uriyahu the Kohen, saying, On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meal offering, and the king's burnt offering, and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: but the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by.

Isn't this that from which my lord drinks, and by which he indeed divines? You have done evil in so doing.'*


The king went to Giv`on to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Shlomo offer on that altar.


He made the molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and the height of it was five cubits; and a line of thirty cubits compassed it round about.


The same day did the king make the middle of the court holy that was before the house of the LORD; for there he offered the burnt offering, and the meal offering, and the fat of the shalom offerings, because the bronze altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offering, and the meal offering, and the fat of the shalom offerings.


The bronze altar, which was before the LORD, he brought from the forefront of the house, from between his altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of his altar.


Thus did Uriyahu the Kohen, according to all that king Achaz commanded.


He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: and he broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moshe had made; for to those days the children of Yisra'el did burn incense to it; and he called it Nechushtan 1.


It happened in the morning, about the time of offering the offering, that behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.


The number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.


Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the shalom offerings, and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.


He also made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom; and he practiced sorcery, and used enchantments, and practiced sorcery, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits, and with wizards: he worked much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.


For you have forsaken your people, the house of Ya`akov, because they are filled from the east, with those who practice divination like the Pelishtim, and they clasp hands with the children of foreigners.


Forces shall stand on his part, and they shall profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual [burnt offering], and they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate.


From the time that the continual [burnt offering] shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred ninety days.


yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gavri'el, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening offering.


He shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease; and on the wing of abominations [shall come] one who makes desolate; and even to the full end, and that determined, shall [wrath] be poured out on the desolate.


My people consult with their wooden idol, and answer to a stick of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and they have been unfaithful to their God.
