For the LORD will strike Yisra'el, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Yisra'el out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherim, provoking the LORD to anger.


Ben-Hadad listened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Yisra'el, and struck `Iyon, and Dan, and Avel-Beit-Ma`akhah, and all Kinnarot, with all the land of Naftali.


(now Chiram the king of Tzor had furnished Shlomo with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire), that then king Shlomo gave Chiram twenty cities in the land of the Galil.


There came against the land Pul the king of Ashur; and Menachem gave Pul one thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.


Menachem exacted the money of Yisra'el, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Ashur. So the king of Ashur turned back, and didn't stay there in the land.


He did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he didn't depart from the sins of Yarov`am the son of Nevat, with which he made Yisra'el to sin.


Hoshea the son of Elah made a conspiracy against Pekach the son of Remalyahu, and struck him, and killed him, and reigned in his place, in the twentieth year of Yotam the son of `Uzziyah.


King Achaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglat-Pil'eser king of Ashur, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and king Achaz sent to Uriyahu the Kohen the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship of it.


So Achaz sent messengers to Tiglat-Pil'eser king of Ashur, saying, I am your servant and your son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Yisra'el, who rise up against me.


The LORD rejected all the seed of Yisra'el, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.


until the LORD removed Yisra'el out of his sight, as he spoke by all his servants the prophets. So Yisra'el was carried away out of their own land to Ashur to this day.


In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Ashur took Shomron, and carried Yisra'el away to Ashur, and placed them in Chalach, and on the Chavor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Madai.

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Ashur have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shall you be delivered?

The God of Yisra'el stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Ashur, and the spirit of Tilgat-Pilne'eser king of Ashur, and he carried them away, even the Re'uveni, and the Gadi, and the half-tribe of Menasheh, and brought them to Chalach, and Chavor, and Hara, and to the river of Gozan, to this day.


Be'erah his son, whom Tilgat-Pilne'eser king of Ashur carried away captive: he was prince of the Re'uveni.

Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keep covenant and loving kindness, don't let all the travail seem little before you, that has come on us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our Kohanim, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all your people, since the time of the kings of Ashur to this day.


Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.


Truly, LORD, the kings of Ashur have destroyed all the countries and their land,


For before the child knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken.


In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Ashur, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.


Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Ashur, on whom she doted.


I will bring the land into desolation; and your enemies that dwell therein will be astonished at it.


Thus says the LORD: *For three transgressions of the children of `Ammon, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have ripped open the pregnant women of Gil`ad, that they may enlarge their border.


Thus says the LORD: *For three transgressions of Damascus, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have threshed Gil`ad with threshing instruments of iron;


Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus,* says the LORD, whose name is the God Tzeva'ot.


For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, house of Yisra'el,* says the LORD, the God Tzeva'ot; *and they will afflict you from the entrance of Chamat to the brook of the `Aravah.*


Now the children of Re'uven and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock: and when they saw the land of Ya`zer, and the land of Gil`ad, that behold, the place was a place for livestock;


Moshe gave Gil`ad to Makhir the son of Menasheh; and he lived therein.


The LORD will cause you to be struck before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them, and shall flee seven ways before them: and you shall be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.


It happened, when Yavin king of Chatzor heard of it, that he sent to Yovav king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Akhshaf,


Yehoshua turned back at that time, and took Chatzor, and struck the king of it with the sword: for Chatzor before was the head of all those kingdoms.


But as for the cities that stood on their mounds, Yisra'el burned none of them, save Chatzor only; that did Yehoshua burn.


the king of Madon, one; the king of Chatzor, one;


and the border went out westward at Mikhmetat on the north; and the border turned about eastward to Ta'anat-Shiloh, and passed along it on the east of Yano`ach;


The fortified cities were Tziddim, Tzer, and Chammat, Rakkat, and Kinneret,


and Kedesh, and Edre`i, and `En-Hatzor,


They set apart Kedesh in the Galil in the hill country of Naftali, and Shekhem in the hill country of Efrayim, and Kiryat-Arba (the same is Chevron) in the hill country of Yehudah.


The children of Dan set up for themselves the engraved image: and Yonatan, the son of Gershom, the son of Moshe, he and his sons were Kohanim to the tribe of the Dani until the day of the captivity of the land.


The LORD sold them into the hand of Yavin king of Kena`an, who reigned in Chatzor; the captain of whose army was Sisera, who lived in Charoshet of the Gentiles.
