Then I beat them as small as the dust of the earth. I crushed them as the mire of the streets, and spread them abroad.


Then he mustered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty-two: and after them he mustered all the people, even all the children of Yisra'el, being seven thousand.


The children of Yisra'el were mustered, and were provisioned, and went against them: and the children of Yisra'el encamped before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.


In those days the LORD began to cut off from Yisra'el: and Chaza'el struck them in all the borders of Yisra'el;


Now the rest of the acts of Yeho'achaz, and all that he did, and his might, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra'el?


Chaza'el said, Why weeps my lord? He answered, Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Yisra'el: their strongholds will you set on fire, and their young men will you kill with the sword, and will dash in pieces their little ones, and rip up their women with child.


Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind. I cast them out as the mire of the streets.


Now therefore, please make a pledge to my master the king of Ashur, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you are able on your part to set riders on them.


Who has raised up one from the east? Whom called him to his foot in righteousness? He hands over nations to him, and makes him rule over kings. He gives them like the dust to his sword, like the driven stubble to his bow.


Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near, in the valley of decision.


I will set my face against you, and you will be struck before your enemies. Those who hate you will rule over you; and you will flee when no one pursues you.


Thus says the LORD: *For three transgressions of Damascus, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have threshed Gil`ad with threshing instruments of iron;


*I sent plagues among you like I did Egypt. I have slain your young men with the sword, and have carried away your horses; and I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camp, yet you haven't returned to me,* says the LORD.


Shemu'el arose, and got him up from Gilgal to Gevah of Binyamin. Sha'ul numbered the people who were present with him, about six hundred men.
