The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben-`Ammi. He is the father of the children of `Ammon to this day.


David got him a name when he returned from smiting the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men.


He struck Mo'av, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Mo`avim became servants to David, and brought tribute.


For he was wiser than all men; than Etan the Ezrachite, and Heman, and Kalkol, and Darda, the sons of Machol: and his fame was in all the nations round about.


The fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him on all nations.


Some of the Pelishtim brought Yehoshafat presents, and silver for tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.


It happened after this, that the children of Mo'av, and the children of `Ammon, and with them some of the Me`unim, came against Yehoshafat to battle.


Moreover `Uzziyah built towers in Yerushalayim at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning [of the wall], and fortified them.


He fought also with the king of the children of `Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of `Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of `Ammon render to him, in the second year also, and in the third.


The report about him went out into all Syria. They brought to him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, possessed with demons, epileptics, and paralytics; and he healed them.


and when you come near over against the children of `Ammon, don't bother them, nor contend with them; for I will not give you of the land of the children of `Ammon for a possession; because I have given it to the children of Lot for a possession.


Then Nachash the `Ammonite came up, and encamped against Yavesh-Gil`ad: and all the men of Yavesh said to Nachash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you.
